6. Rudolf Virchow

Known as the“father of modern pathology” this German doctor explained cell theory that states ever cell divides from another cell. Rudolf also contributed by describing the multiplication of cell to form a full human being from the fertilized egg.  He was successful in explaining Leukemia by identifying the infected cells which cause it.

5. Edward Jenner

Jenner is known for the discovery of smallpox vaccine, which saved thousands of lives. He found it out by collecting some infected cells from a patient and by introducing it into a healthier body. This English physician discovered that it made the person sterile to the disease for lifelong even if he comes in contact with an infected person.   

4. Alexander Fleming

This Scottish biologist and pharmacologist was honored with Nobel prize in medicine for the year 1945 for his discovery of the antibiotic, pencellin. Alexander found a mould growing on a dish in which he was growing bacteria’s that he forgot to wash. He discovered that the bacteria’s that caused infection were being destroyed by the mould.
