Technology's Biggest Broken Promises

# 2 HP TouchPad

The TouchPad from HP based on the Palm web OS software, indeed became a top seller for a period of time."We have a really good opportunity to become No. 2 in tablets fairly quickly, Possibly No. 1," said the creator Jon Rubinstein.  But again the tablet had to face the crisis soon.

Following the retail launch, within the two months of sale the consumers were dissatisfied with the product because of its lack of applications and unimpressive design. Later the bargain shoppers were struggling to get rid of the discontinued product in a fire-sale clearance.

# 1 BlackBerry PlayBook

Once the king of mobile messaging, RIM drew criticism for introducing the PlayBook in 2011 without providing e-mail or instant messaging and with a shortage of consumer applications like Netflix movies. It served neither businesses nor consumers well.

Though the PlayBook had an exciting launch, it could sell only limited units.
