Summit takes legal action against Twilight hacker

Los Angeles: Summit Entertainment has filed a case against the alleged hacker responsible for leaking the highly anticipated images from Twilight: Breaking Dawn online. The studio has filed a civil case in US District Court in Los Angeles and in Argentina against Daiana Santia, among others, for allegedly stealing photographs, unfinished images and video from both parts of Breaking Dawn. A criminal case has also been filed in Argentina against the hacker for illegally releasing the images from the movie online in March, the Variety reported. "While we very much appreciate the legions of committed fans of the franchise and encourage them to create a community online, we cannot ignore that property was stolen," said David C Friedman, exec VP and general counsel. "It is not fair to the majority of fans that want to see the final chapter of the Twilight Saga film franchise fully realized by the filmmaker and dedicated cast and crew, to have these images out and available on the Internet." On March 31, images of Bella and Edward's honeymoon were posted on several sites, forcing the studio to issue a plea to fans to stop the spread of the photos. The film's story revolves around the love and marriage between mortal Bella and the vampire Edward, played by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. The first part of Breaking Dawn will be released on November 18 and the second, a year later on November 16, 2012.
