Netflix’s Qwickster

In September 2011, Netflix decided to rename its DVD section as Qwikster, but owing to negative reaction from customer, Netflix cancelled the plan. The name ‘Qwickster’ had full probability of being misspelled and had nothing to do with ‘Qwik’. The plan to change the name of a particular division is a company should be related to its offering, which Qwikster failed to do, and Qwikster was a bad name from the beginning. The name also made the customers confused as ‘Qwickster.com’ and ‘Quickster.com’ are different entities, owned by different companies. This just proves that before naming a product or service, a company should do a thorough study beforehand.
