The Bangalore-based Tejas Networks was co-founded by Gururaj Deshpande and U.S.-based ASG-Omni in 2000. Later in 2006, the company's L2 solutions were the first to be MEF certified globally. Harvard Business School had written a case on Tejas Networks to explore International Entrepreneurship. In 2010, the company launched its portfolio for Defence and established Optical Networking Center of Excellence at JNTU Kakinada. Today, the company has grown to be worth $150 million with products deployed in over 50 countries and ranked amongst the top companies in the optical transport market in India and across the world.
