The company was acquired wholly by Facebook, its founders and several team members joined Facebook and moved to Palo Alto headquarters.
Gowalla was a location-based social network launched in 2007 by Josh Williams and Scott Raymond. The firm had raised a total of $10.4 million in two rounds of funding from investors like Alsop Louie Partners, Greylock Partners, Shasta Ventures and several others.
