Secret Hideouts of Famous Dictators and Villains

Mummar Gaddafi

Bunkers under children’s playground and The Drainage Hideout

Who Was He

Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was a dictator for imperialists who wanted to capture Libya and was branded as a tyrant and terrorist. He styled himself as the ‘Leader of Revolution’ and ruled Libya for 41 years prior to the civil war which made him the fourth-longest-serving non-royal leader since 1900, as well as longest-serving Arab leader.

He deployed some of the gory purification laws which were put into effect in 1994 like punishing theft by the amputation of limbs, and fornication and adultery by flogging. In the 1980s, Gaddafi had acquired chemical weapons, leading to some calling Libya under Gaddafi a pariah state.

Hi Hideout:

Bunker in Tripoli: Gaddhafi had built a command bunker in his capital, Tripoli below children’s playground and sometimes used kids playing above as human shields. This Bab al-Aziziya compound in Tripoli has miles of hallways and bunkers built below ground. All the rooms in the bunker are air-conditioned and the network is so extensive that it is reported as “where it all leads, no one knows."

Drainage near Sirte: Moments before Gaddhafi was humiliated and shot near his home town of Sirte, he was caught hiding in like 'rat’ in a drain. He had taken refuge in the drain while fleeing from rebel fighters pursuing them on foot. When caught, Gaddhafi was found with a golden gun in his hand holed inside the drainage from where he was pulled.

How He was killed:

It was a cold blooded murder at the hands of rebel fighters who pulled him out of the drainage hole and shot the already wounded fugitive until he bled to death.
