Rekha was born to Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan and Telugu Actress Pushpavalli on 10^th October 1954. She was named Bhanurekha Ganesan but she decided to leave the long name and just take on the simple name Rekha!

All through her life she was surrounded by controversies and the first one started the moment she was born. She was born out of wedlock and her father Gemini Ganesan refused to acknowledge her for a very long time. But later on when he tried to reconcile with his daughter Rekha who is an independent and head strong woman decided to ignore his efforts.

Another southern beauty who made big in Bollywood is Sridevi. She is from a non filmy background and she was born to Ayyapan and Rajeswari on 13^th August 1963 in Tamil Nadu. Nothing much is known about her family except that her father was a lawyer.

Sridevi started her career as a child artist. Her first movie was Kandan Karunai in 1969 in Tamil and her Bollywood debut as a child artist was in the super hit movie Julie. Ever since then she has grown and continued winning hearts. She is often called "The First Female Superstar of the Indian Cinema".

At the peak of her career she married producer Bonny Kapoor and left the limelight to raise her two daughters. Now all her fans are eagerly waiting to see their heartthrob in her new movie English Vinglish.
