Microsoft Overhauls Its Management In Line With Apple

With this management reshuffle, Ballmer said that he hoped the new structure would bring products to the market faster and make the company more efficient. And also it will attract the consumers to use Microsoft products, like Word and Office, on a variety of devices rather than just personal computers. He also said that he wants the company to be more like Apple. The maker of the iPhone and iPad has roared past Microsoft in sales and stock market value in the past few years by smoothly melding its devices with online services such as iTunes.

The last big re-organization the company had was in July 2008 when Ballmer split Microsoft's Platforms & Services Division into three units - Windows, Online Services and Server and Tools.

The management reshuffle resulted in some executives heading new divisions and some losing their old ones. And also the management that was formed under Microsoft founder, Bill Gates no longer exist.
