Larry Ellison's 10 Most Amusing Stories
Ellison has twice tried to buy an NBA team and failed both the times: Ellison had tried to buy the New Orleans Hornets and was also turned down. The NBA instead bought the Hornets. It was unclear though if he was planning on bringing the Hornets to San Jose. The San Jose Mercury News had published a statement from Larry on denying plans to move the team and surprisingly that story had since disappeared from the site. But speculations were that former owner George Shin had said that he refused Ellison’s higher offer because he knew Ellison wanted to move the team to California. Ellison then tried to buy the Golden Gate Warriors too, but unfortunately lost that bid as well. This was in spite of the fact that the Warriors played at Oracle Arena and Ellison was often seen at Warriors games. Unfortunately, basketball fan Ellison still doesn't own his team yet, only a stadium.
Larry once bought a San Francisco house on the spot, in the middle of the night: This is certainly outrageous and very amusing. Though considered to be false, the story was that Ellison and his girlfriend drove past the house in the middle of the night and fell in love with it. Ellison stopped the car, knocked on the door and made a $4 million offer right away. The house bought, Ellison and his girlfriend went inside and had sex. Larry finds this rather ludicrous. In response to this absurd story Larry said “Four million dollars for sex? I mean excuse me.” Instead, Ellison said he had bought the house in question from the estate of the owners, who were dead. The funny thing is the story was circulated by Larry, himself.
