Many of us were surprised to see Akshay hosting one of the most popular cookery shows on Indian television-Master Chef. But there is nothing to be surprised about and he has the all the qualifications to be part of cookery shows and give proper instructions, since he has proved himself as a talented chef before entering bollywood.

Born in a middle class family, the glittering world of bollywood was something which Akshay never dared to dream about. He studied martial arts from Bangkok after having obtained a black belt from India. While in Bangkok, he worked as a chef and a waiter, to meet his daily expenses.

He got few assignments in modeling once he returned to Mumbai and in the year 1991, he finally made his bollywood entry with the film Saugandh, which was followed by the 1992 thriller film Khiladi. Now, he is one of the highest earning actors in bollywood!
