Bangalore: Some foods are tasty and you may run behind it because of its taste and flavor. But these foods are not always healthy and they can even hinder your energy level, which may lead to serious fatigue problems. These foods can make you feel as if you need a nap after meal. Here are 5 foods that can cause fatigue and you should avoid them if you are already on the verge of fatigue. Sugar and White Flour Products Sugar and White Flour Products like white bread, white pasta, white potatoes and rice are rated high on the glycemic index. When eaten in abundance, they tend to draw a state of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Symptoms of hypoglycemia include fatigue, moodiness and mental fogginess. Selecting lower glycemic index grains such as whole grains that have not been refined will help to keep your energy up and weight down. Sugar and white flour found to cause excess insulin release which cause high blood sugar levels. Hydrogenated and Partially Hydrogenated Oils Hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated fats disrupt normal fatty acid metabolism in your body. Hydrogenated oils are directly linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, an increased tendency toward allergies, reduced immune function and high fatigue problems. Food products like Bread, crackers, cookies, cakes, snack foods, dips, spreads, dressings, margarine, and candy are made with this oil. Three common examples of these types of oils are vegetable shortening, margarine, and the oil used in commercial peanut butters. Avoid Deep-fried Foods Deep-fried foods are fried in hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats. They also contain toxic free radicals formed when the oils break down with heat that can cause oxidative tissue damage throughout the body. A roasted chicken breast has approximately 142 calories and three grams of fat. A breaded and fried chicken breast, with skin on, has about 364 calories and 18.5 grams of fat. Fast Foods and Junk Foods Fast foods and junk foods often contain white flour, sugar, hydrogenated fats, or all three and often create problems to vulnerable fatigue. The ingredients are of poor quality with little nutritional value; and what nutrients they have are often lost due to being kept hot or stored for long periods of time. It is also important to avoid foods you are allergic or sensitive to, as well as foods you are addicted to. Caffeine, Alcohol and Soft Drinks Hot cocoa and other chocolate beverages are too likely to over stimulate the adrenals with the combination of caffeine and sugar they contain. Report says Caffeine can drive the adrenals, further depleting them. So, it’s better to avoid both. Alcohol is similar to poison for the adrenals and it should not be consumed by people suffering from adrenal fatigue. Also, Colas and other carbonated beverages contain sugar or artificial sugar, and most contain caffeine.
