Bangalore: The launch of ipad2 has given a firm nudge to the sales of the previous version in the country. The sales figure of newly arrived ipad has taken a beating as Indians are now more interested in laying their hands on the new baby. There has been a notable increase in the number of existing users, eager to dispose their ipad 1, online with the intent of procuring ipad 2. Babli Kripalani, owner of Bang Bang, a gadget store in the Kolkata's AC Market expressed his dismay at the sudden disinterest in ipad 1 amongst consumers in Kolkata. His store hasn't witnessed the departure of a single ipad 1 in the last two or three weeks.
The findings of craiglist .com points towards the decline in the prices of used 16 GB ipad 1 to a sum of $200 to $300. Even the first time tablet buyers are willing to wait for ipad 2, to launch in India. The popularity quotient of ipad 1has dwindled in cities like New Delhi and kolkata and is expected to hit the rock bottom with the rising popularity of ipad 2.
ipad 2 boasts of several sleek enhancements, all offered at the price of its predecessor. It's also well embellished with added features like camera, magnetic cover etc. Customers of 27 countries including U.S. will have the privilege of catching the first look of ipad 2 in the initial two months of its launch.
Whereas, the usage of tablet still needs to pick up the required momentum in the global market. As, the presence of tablet users is exponentially low as compared to the 1.3 billion total PCs worldwide.
Ipad 2 can expect some stiff competition from other counterparts in the market like Samsung Galaxy Tab, Olive Pad, Dell Streak and ViewSonic ViewPad . It could also lead to full scale war with Dell Streak, Galaxy Tab, Motorola's Xoom, HTC's Flyer, BlackBerry's Playbook and Acer's launching their new versions of tablet in 2011. And for those who hate to untie their purse strings more than its required,Lava, Zen and G'Five will have their offerings, moderately priced between 10,000 and 18,000.
