Marie Curie

Marie Curie was a French-Polish physicist and chemist, famous for her pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the only woman to win in two fields, and the only person to win in multiple sciences.

However her pioneering work in radioactivity eventually led to her demise. Little did she realize that exposure to radioactive materials can be hazardous to human life. And her long-term exposure to radioactive particles eventually led to the development of a bone marrow condition known as aplastic anemia, which killed her in the year 1934.

John Godfrey Parry-Thomas

John Godfrey Parry-Thomas was a Welsh engineer and motor-racing driver who at one time held the land speed record. He is popularly known as the first driver to be killed in pursuit of the land speed record on his own creation, a car named ‘Babs’.
