Bangalore: Chip maker Intel has revealed more features of its Atom N570 processor. The dual core Atom N570 chips will run at 1.66GHz and netbooks powered by the chips will start shipping later this month. Device makers like ASUS, Lenovo and Samsung have showcased Intel Atom processor N570 powered netbooks at the ongoing CeBIT fair.
The processor supports multithreading and has 1MB of L2 cache, 8.5W TDP and DDR3 667. The dual core Intel Atom processor N570 will "provide netbook users Internet access on the go and a more responsive experience in the same compact form factor and great battery life as single-core Intel Atom processors", claims Intel in a blog entry.
The Intel Atom processor N570 was revealed with SeaMicro's SM10000-64 low-power server, that consisted of 256 chips. Apart from making special chips for netbooks, Intel is also working on Atom chip for tablets, code-named Oak Trail.
