India's 10 Most Stolen Cars

#8 Maruti Suzuki Esteem:

Though this one time favorite is no longer in production, Maruti Suzuki Esteem is at number 8 in our listing of 10 most stolen cars in India. It’s certainly an interesting fact that Indian crooks still prefer this oldie. The car was sold till 2007, when the production stopped at the Maruti factory, with the assembly line giving way to the SX4 Sedan. Mumbai police has listed around 58 cars being stolen in 2011.

#7 Tata Indica:

Another favorite pick for Indian carjackers, the Indica is the first passenger car from Tata Motors. Launched in 1998, this hatchback is still fueling up the Indian streets with its new generation models. As of August 2008, more than 910,000 Indica models were produced, and the platform had spawned off close to 1.2 million vehicles. But for Indica owners, there is a bad news. From 61 stolen cars in 2010, the theft rate has seen a slight rise with the year 2011 (67 cars).
