Indians Are Workaholic, Checks Work Emails On Vacations Too
Interestingly it wasn’t the employers but their own wish that prompted them to check work mails even on holiday trips too. And to top that, 60 percent respondents felt working on holiday didn't reduce their enjoyment; in fact it actually helped them relax better.
The survey also found that about 94 percent of the respondents respond to or make work related calls of which 23 percent doing it on regular basis, and one-thirds decision depends on who is calling them. Smartphone is the device of choice for a majority of 62 percent to manage work on holiday, followed closely by the traditional laptop at 59 percent. Tablet adoption seems to be catching up with 22 percent using it for remote work management.
To work on holidays is getting quite a common habit with 77 percent of respondents confirmed they never argued or had a fight with their spouse/partner for working on holiday. Supporting this further, 89 percent respondents said they don't need to hide that they are working on holiday for fear of upsetting their partners. And 73 percent of the respondents said their managers expect them to be accessible or work on holidays only in case of emergencies.
