The Urban Kitchen is founded by Meghna Jaswal and Mira Jhala. Though none of these two are from Gurgaon, they initiated to target its corporate hub. The startup successfully started in the year 2009 and started building an identity slowly.
Both Jaswal and Jhala were good friends and roommates at the Institute of Hotel Management, Aurangabad. Together they gave up their jobs and moved to India to start up their own catering service.
When asked about their success in such a shoert span,Jaswal says, "Our operating model was based on what we had picked up from the hospitality industry in the US. But we have been localising it to fit the needs of this market". They offered wide range of services like late night snacks, breakfast, lunch and corporate events.
