4. Joseph Jimenez, Novartis

Joe Jimenez is Head of the Novartis Pharmaceuticals Division since 2007. Jimenez earned a bachelor's degree from Stanford University in 1982, and an MBA from University of California, Berkeley. Jimenez is well familiar to both sides of the Atlantic and has held positions with many top companies like Heinz Europe, AstraZeneca in the U.K., and Blackstone in the U.S. before moving to Novartis.

Novartis International AG is a Swiss multinational drug manufacturer company located in Basel, Switzerland, ranking number two in sales (46.806 billion US$) among the world-wide industry in 2010. The same year Novartis concluded a $28.3 billion deal with Alcon Inc that will give the Swiss drug-maker a controlling stake in the U.S. eye-care group.

Born and brought up at Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, Jain studied economics at University of Delhi, earning a bachelor's degree with honors. He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Jain commenced his career as an analyst in derivatives research at Kidder, Peabody & Co. and three years later joined Merrill Lynch in New York where he founded and led the securities industry’s first dedicated hedge fund coverage group. Since 2002, he has been in the Deutsche Bank Group Executive Committee (GEC) and was formerly head of Global Markets and joint head of the Corporate and Investment Bank from 2004.

Jain has witnessed many ups and downs over the years that the bank went through and has been successful to handle all well with his rich global experience.
