Indian App Developers Are All Over New BlackBerry

Bangalore: The Indian Smartphone users are all set for the launch of new BlackBerry, but it has already created a buzz in the country about its pre-launch.

BlackBerry, previously known as Research In Motion, reached out to large number of software application developers in the country to create various applications tailored to global and local needs. The company used nearly 150 apps developed by the Kerala student entrepreneurs of Kochi Startup Village for the unveiled BlackBerry 10 platform.

According to WSJ, at the start of mid-last year, the company held a series of workshops across India to help developers understand the new device and operating system, BlackBerry 10; said Annie Mathew, BlackBerry director for developer alliances and business development in India. For the past two and a half years, the count of BlackBerry developers in India has increased tenfold to 40,000. By 2015, a third of the world’s BlackBerry app developer community will be based in India, added Annie Mathew.
