The residents of Napa Valley, California rejoiced Diwali on Saturday at American Canyon Middle School and the function was presented by the Napa Valley Indian American Association.

Arvind Nischal, an American Canyon resident, hosted the festival for the second time. "It's a big festival in India. ... It's an event we celebrate like Christmas," said Nischal,s reported by Times Herald.

Various performances such as classical Indian dance and songs added colour to the festival and the audience also got the opportunity to take part in Dandia and learn some steps as well. Various dignitaries such as Mayor Leon Garcia were present at the event.

Nischal first organized the festival previous year and he tells that it was a smaller affair. He adds that, "this time there's more than 200 people in there."

Several other Indian organizations are planning to come up with Diwali celebrations in U.S., throughout the month of November.
