India: Powering Global Designs

The embedded design industry in India is entering a new phase with talented Indian designers. During a recent visit to India, Wesley Ryder, World Wide Technical Director, Mentor Graphics Corp., spoke to SiliconIndia in an exclusive interview about India as a design power house. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

India’s progress in Embedded Design / VLSI in recent years has been tremendous; the nation has now emerged to become a real important design centre and has a strong global outlook. Removing the notion of thinking India as a different region would be the best thing to do as Indian companies’ today design amazing products and have great implementation engineers who are very good at system level concepts, architectural designs and software. The modern designs done right now in India are complex in nature, for example: High video resolution and clear audio transmission in televisions can be incredibly complicated.

Indian design engineers are young, creative and energetic bringing more hope and development to the Indian technological ecosystem. Indian firms today are doing great and are capable of giving shoulder-to-shoulder competition to any electronic design companies across the world.
