India Fare Poorly at Global Gender Gap Index

Although, India has come up four positions from its 105th position in 2012, it still remains as the lowest-ranked among the five BRICS nations. Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden have still retained as the top-four positions on the global.

In terms of economic participation and equality, educational attainment and for health and survival, India has not been ranked particularly high.
Germany, South Africa, UK, Russia, Brazil and China are some of the major countries included on the list in the Global Gender Gap Index.  Since 2006, the global Index measure the 'relative gaps between women and men' across countries in four main areas - health, education, economics and politics.
WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab said, "Countries will need to start thinking of human capital very differently - including how they integrate women into leadership roles. This shift in mindset and practice is not a goal for the future, it is an imperative today," reports TOI.
