India Among The 10 Largest Arms Importers In The World

South Korea:
South Korea, a nation constantly under the warheads with its neighboring nation North Korea, accounted for 5 percent of global arms imports between 2008 and 2012. However, their imports are not inclusive of nuclear and chemical weapons or other weapons of mass destruction. The country’s biggest imports come from the United States (77 percent), Germany (15 percent) and France (5 percent). Thus, South Korea is the 4th largest arms importer, as per SIPRI Arms Transfers Database.

Pakistan:
Pakistan, ordering a substantial number of combat aircrafts like 50 JF-17s from China and 30 F-16s, is the third biggest arms importer in the world. Till date, the country remains to be the largest buyer of Chinese weapons. It has large planned orders in China for combat aircrafts, submarines and frigates. The United States’ import share is 27 percent while Sweden accounts to 5 percent. Still, Pakistan is actively bracing up to produce more warheads, said Federation of American Scientists. It is also reported that the nuclear weapon technology and the weapon-grade enriched uranium was mainly backed by China.
