How to Protect the Intellectual Property for your Startup
The exclusive rights granted to a patentee, in order to prevent others from making, using, selling, or distributing the patented invention without permission. A patent application must include one or more claims which define the right over the invention, and must which must meet the relevant requirements such as novelty and non-obviousness. It protects the patentee in a way that others cannot use, sell, or distribute the patented invention with a valid permission. The patent is available for a minimum period of 20 years, and for WTO members it includes inventions in all fields of technology. One of the most famous patent infringement cases has been that of the graphic user interface, which saw tech giants Apple and Microsoft accusing each other, only to find Xerox taking the pie, and suing Apple for stealing its ideas. Thus, startups should make sure to get their valuable ideas patented in order copycats from eating into their market shares.
