8. Intel's "Red X" Marketing Campaign

In 1991, Intel came out with the infamous ‘Intel Inside’ campaign, which made Intel one of the top 10 brands in the world alongside Coke, Disney and McDonald's.

Before that Intel had come up with the Red X marketing campaign which displayed a red cross through the numbers 286, which was Intel’s earlier processor. It was done to promote the new processor 386 showing that it was a better option.

9. Dropped ‘E’ Raised Intel

Intel’s logo evolution during the years is a symbol of dynamic forward motion, a catalyst for positive change and as a driving force toward newer technological leaps. The new logo is a merger of the company’s first two logos. The company’s first logo featured a dropped ‘E’, which remained till 37 years. In 2005, when Steve jobs announced that Apple would switch to Intel processors, a slide was showed saying “It’s true!” in which the ‘E’ was dropped too. After that, the Intel Inside logo was made which remained for 15 years until the current logo replaced it.

10. The 8080 Intel Asteroid

After the huge success of Intel’s first processor 8080, which became the industry standard, the CERGA Observatory named a Caussols main belt asteroid "8080 Intel" in the honour of the invention and today Intel's main Santa Clara phone number is also (408) 765-8080.
