Hackers Break Into Evernote

Bangalore: The government may have silenced wikileaks’ founder Julian Asange but 2013 has seen an all time most successful hacking operations in the history of hacking. The victims are biggies like Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, twitter and NBC and  the latest one is popular multi platform note taking application, Evernote The cloud based note syncing software, Evernote announced that hackers gained access to accounts' usernames, email addresses and passwords, and hence 50 million Evernote customers are required to change their passwords.

According to the security notice on Evernote’s website, “Evernote's Operations & Security team has discovered and blocked suspicious activity on the Evernote network that appears to have been a coordinated attempt to access secure areas of the Evernote Service.”  The notice adds, “we also have no evidence that any payment information for Evernote Premium or Evernote Business customers was accessed.”

“In an abundance of caution, we are requiring all users to reset their Evernote account passwords. Please create a new password by signing into your account on evernote.com.” Now all the 50 Million users of this note taking application will have to set a new password on their next login into the application.

Evernote spokeswoman Ronda Scott told Reuters that the Redwood City, California-based company believes "the hackers did not exploit a bug in Java when they broke into the company's system." With that note this espionage clearly displays a gaping hole in Evernote’s security and with users saving their very private data in the application these holes need to stitched up sooner than later lest the hacker bug hits again.
