Google To Launch 1 Gbps Broadband Next Week

Bangalore: Google is launching its much anticipated Google Fiber, the next-generation innovation for internet connectivity, on July 26.

The Next-Generation Tech

Google Fiber will be providing bi-directional connectivity at around 1 gigabit/second –about 20,000 faster access than the dial-up and 100 times faster than the national broadband. Though the service is faster, the company had assured that the cost will be reasonable.

Till now, Americans get connected to the web over cable or DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) connections, which use electric signals over metal wires to send and receive information. This is where the Fiber represents the next-generation technology.

It transmits light over an optical-fiber, a strand of glass as thin as hair, to send and receive information. More information can be transmitted through optical fibers than any other metal wires. And it happens because light travels much faster than all other waves. This is the reason behind the faster access of internet connectivity at the users’ end, once their home is wired with fiber.
