Ever wondered what Abraham Lincoln smelled like? Well let Google Nose help you get a whiff of history!
Google Nose is an April 1st (April fool’s day) special feature launched by Google which has apparently leveraged new and existing technologies to enhance your sense of smell. Currently in its Beta version, it has been described as “the sharpest olfactory experience available”.
After the much hyped prank of Google announcing the shutdown of YouTube, Google pops out wearing a sommeliers hat to give you a Nasal experience after typing, talking and touching the screen for years.
To get started, Click the "Try Google Nose Beta" button on the landing site, the site takes you to a random search page such as “Airport Terminal”. The description box on the right hand side of the search page, almost aptly describes the term “baked tarmac and lost luggage” for its users. The quirky descriptions of the random word searches from the Google Aromabase of over 15 million Scentibytes are an instant giveaway of the prank. For the ones who still follow the given options of smell and share smell, (consider yourself pranked!), a pop-up prompts the users to "Bring your nose as close as you can to the screen and press Enter." A progress bar will depict the transmission of smell.
