While the idea is great in theory, the authorities should test its practicality in the smaller levels such as Panchayat or Municipality.
Right To Recall
The About 70 percent members of all assemblies and of Lok Sabha are elected by minority of vote casted. The majority has either voted against them or hasn't voted at all, which leads to an ironical situation that tells us that those elected are deserved to be recalled right on the day of elections. When there is less than 50 percent of electorate voting for a person, who is it possible to get 75 percent of the electorate or even more than 50 percent to vote for a recall? Experts call it not just an impractical idea, but a dangerous one too. Yes it works in Switzerland, but in a large country like India where political system is swayed by emotionalism that it is easy to gain support on any issues. Although the argument on the issue is largely against the proposed idea, it's not the end point for such a great reform. If not at present, India can obviously hope for the realization of a similar idea in the future cashing on some of the developments coming up. At the completion of the UID project, when digital signatures and voting is in practice and when every individual has an access to broadband internet connections, the country can embrace the system of right to recall which will be much feasible then.
