IIT Bombay Blacklists U.S.-Based Company
Bangalore: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) placement cell has blacklisted a U.S-based video games company for a year in the recruitment process, reports Times of India.
The reason is said to be that the company did not follow the terms and conditions outlined by the placement cell of IIT-B for the recruitment process. As per the students, the company approached them directly without the knowledge of the placement cell which is against the rule. However, it is reported that the company offered up to $1, 10,000 per annum to the students.
"Once they get the contact details from the resume, they get in touch with the students they desire to hire, which is a violation of placement policy” a master’s student from the prestigious institution was quoted as saying in Times of India. Another student said that they directly can contact the company after placements but the placement cell will not support the move.
"The placement cell has laid down terms and conditions. In case of violation, we blacklist the recruiters. This year, till now only one company has been blacklisted for violation for a year. Next year they can again be part of the process”, said Placement in-charge, Professor Ravi Sinha to Times of India.
