Gen VK Singh Retires, Ending Controversial Tenure


If not the army chief, his supporters from the ex-servicemen community and others have shown signs of both politicizing and communalizing the whole age row. Some MPs from the Rajput community have approached Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on his behalf only to be snubbed.’

The long lasted service of this officer who comes from the Bapora village in Bhiwani district in the Indian state of Haryana has marked his name in the history. The controversies revolved around him gave both supports and opposes all through his service. Now the time has come for him to retire. Beside his controversies he will also be remembered in the army for his valuable services. He was part of 1971 Indo-Pakistani War and Operation Pawan. He ends his military service after receiving the awards like Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Yudh Seva Medal

Team Anna has openly invited V.K. Singh to join them after the retirement. But V.K. Singh has left the question about his future open-ended.  He said that he didn’t have enough time to think about it and all he has in mind is completing his doctorate from the University of Madras.
