Flipkart Expands Into Fashion, Eyes On Startups Zovi And YepMe

Zovi and YepMe which have already established their private brands in the products they offer, Flipkart’s ambition to acquire them adds sense. Zovi, which is into selling apparel, footwear and other accessories is aiming at about 1,550 crore sales in coming three or four years and YupMe with its private brand of footwear and apparel is expecting sales of 300 crore next fiscal year.

However both the companies denied to talk on the possible acquisition proposal by Flipkart. "We are clear we want to grow on our own," said Manish Chopra, CEO, Zovi, and a spokesman for YepMe, did not rule out such an exit, according to Times Of India.

The e-tail industry lately noticed many acquisitions in order to create private brands and boost profits. The online apparel store Inkfruit was bought by Zovi last year and another online apparel store was bought by Myntra in 2012.

All this competition by the e-tailers to conquer the top spot in online fashion market is worth watching in the coming years as it may result in great surprises for fashionistas.
