The FM-8 which was introduced in 1981 was Fujitsu’s first computer. The term FM stands for “Fujitsu Micro”. This micro computer offered a number of features that includes 64 KB RAM, bubble memory, built-in chinese characters ROM and a 640x200 high resolution with 8 colors. The FM-8 was an instant hit because of its innovative design and state-of-the-art semiconductor technology. The FM-8 was equipped with two Motorola 6809 8-bit CPUs along with world’s first 64KB DRAM. The FM-8 also had the ability to display Japanese and Chinese characters. The boot menu showed F-BASIC, DOS for mini floppy disk, Bubble Memory and DOS for standard floppy disks.
