Fear of Maoists Triggers Mass Exodus Of Kids In Jharkhand

As per the post-mortem, it was revealed that the boy died in an explosion during the training session. This incident had further brought the insurgent’s active involvement in employing children as soldiers.

As result of the mass exits of the children, only women and old people are now found in the village. On the other hand, men had gone to the local police station after being called for support in the investigation.

According to Michael Raj, Police superintendent, a large scale exodus of Maoist cadres has led the insurgents to train children as they are easy to terrorize. He further said that villagers do not report to the police as they fear a counterattack. The villagers are migrant workers who come back to their village for hardly four months in a year during the monsoon. Most of them led an impoverished life and as such are unaware of the benefits of various social security schemes given under the Government of India.
