Even Building Basements Can Be Turned To Schools If You Have the Will to Study

Many basements in Gurgaon are now being used as a study centre by Bagiya. Around 120 children enrol every year. Corporates are now coming forward to help as they are providing books, food and even taking up sponsorships for the kids.

“They help me a lot till date with difficult subjects like Maths and Science," said Rupa a former student of Bagiya who is presently studying at the Delhi Public School.

Once the children are enrolled to schools, the NGO constantly monitors their development. Apart from the normal education, students are given training in extracurricular activities like sports, painting, music and dance from subject experts.

Bagiya also conducts vocational classes for women, to help them live on their own. They also intend to start their services in rural areas.

"I feel so good when these kids who couldn't write a word, now want to be teachers, doctors. Feels great," said Sonal to CNN-IBN.
