Embrace Chaos to Succeed In the Indian Subcontinent: Ravi Venkatesan

Talking about the best options for a company looking to step in India, Venkatesan answers that the options depend from one company to another. It is good if the company finds a Joint Venture which can help in localizing and building the platform. Few of the big success examples are Wipro-GE, Tata-Cummins and Volvo-Eicher etc.

Further talking about the India based companies who are going global and the challenges faced by them compared to companies based in other countries Venkatesan said that there are various challenges for the Indian companies. First of all the companies have to maintain the correct balance among being Indian and being local. If an India origin based company is operating in America, it should feel like one. The country head and majority of the people working in the organization should be American. The decisions should be taken in that particular Country’s perspective and not Indian perspective.

Ravi Venkatesan served as the Chairman of the Board, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Microsoft Corporation (India) until February 2011. He holds his BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1985 from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay.
