Do Apps Crash More on iOS or Android?

On the whole, apps crashed on there were around 23 different iOS operating systems and 33 Android operating systems. However, apps seemingly crashed the most when run on the iOS 5.01 (28.64 percent) than on other versions of the OS and the Android systems, which is understandable, according to Critticism’s CEO, Andrew Levy.  “I expect as Ice Cream Sandwich just launched and the new Nexus S phone launched (during the study), we’ll expect the same situation to occur (with Android) as what happened (with iOS),”he said. But other versions of the iOS had significant numbers too-- the iOS 4.2.10 had 12.64 percent, iOS 4.3.3 was host to 10.66 percent and iOS 4.1 had 8.24 percent of all app crashes.

The analysis studied the ratio of app crashes to each app launch. In the first quartile of apps which consisted of the best apps, Android apps crashed 0.15 percent of the time they launched, while iOS apps crashed 0.51 percent of the time. The second quartile of apps saw Android apps crashing 0.73 percent of the time while iOS apps crashed during 1.47 percent of their launches. In the third quartile of apps, Android apps crashed 2.97percent of the time, and iOS had 3.66 percent of its apps crash.
