Delhi Bags Dishonorable Tag of "Crime Capital"

Bangalore is one such Indian city that comes next to the capital with 532 registered cases of crime, whereas in Delhi 3274 cases have been registered. But the Delhi police have denied this information and claims it to be a wrong analysis.

A Police officer stated, "We register a kidnapping case when any minor girl goes missing under directions of the court. Show me another city which does this," reported TOI.

Out of the total 20, 99,170 complaints registered only a few 60,397 were converted into cases, a figure highlighted in the NCRB data.

As stated by the Delhi Government, bad and perfunctory inquiry along with non-collection of scientific proof during the course of investigation were the significant reasons behind the low certainty rate in these heinous crimes.

The blatant truth is that Delhi remains the Crime Capital of India with high crime rate even after the nationwide protests of the ‘Nirbhaya’case- the Physiotherapy student who was gang raped on a moving bus and later succumbed to the injury. These statistics only paint a grim picture and show the poor state of safety and security in India.
