Deadliest Terrorist Attacks That Rocked India in Recent Times

4. Samjhauta Express Blasts

Samjhauta Express Blasts took place on the midnight of 18th February, 2007 at the Samjhauta Express- bi-weekly train that runs between Delhi (India) and Lahore in Pakistan. This incident had in a way further worsened the relations between the two neighboring countries.

The blasts occurred in the two bogies of the train and took away the lives of almost 68 people, mostly believed to be from Pakistan and left 50 people with injuries.

Both the countries’ government condemned this inhuman attack, and officials on both sides believed that the culprits intended to break the improving relations between the two nations as the attack came just a day prior to Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri’s visit to New Delhi for peace talks with Indian leaders. Though, a number of major breakthroughs have taken place so far, none of the terrorist group has been charged.
