M Thiagarajan founded Paramount Airways in 2005 at the young age of 27, which makes him the youngest airline CEO in the world. He is the grandson of Karumuthu Thiagarajan who is a pioneer in the field of textiles and founder of the Bank of Madura. Prior to venturing into airlines, Paramount was only into textile segment. The operation of the airline was halted for few months due to the withdrawal of its license, but after its successful case in the Madras High Court, the operations regained in 2010. The airways has won the "Arch of Europe" Award and the "Award of Excellence" conferred by the Institute of Economic Studies.
