Collaborative Benefits

A 2013 paper analyzed the relationship between technology evolution and the organization of R&D in the global semiconductor industry. According to the paper, collaboration will be driven by learning, technology integration and resource pooling. Innovation will no longer be completely enterprise driven. Consumer led applications will be the trend and the consumer will be the key driver for emerging innovation models. Opportunities for developers will lie in technologies such as 3-D printing and open-source software and social networking will be integral throughout the development process.
