Car Of The Week: Mercedes-Benz A-Class


The 1.6-litre turbocharged, direct-injection petrol engine churns out 120.7bhp of power that propels the car from 0 to 100 in 9.2 seconds. The top speed is 202 Kmph, which is enough for Indian standards unless you are driving in the Buddh International Circuit.

The 2.2-litre diesel engine on the other hand delivers a descent 107.3bhp of power at 3200-4400rpm in combination with a 250Nm of peak torque at 1400-2800rpm.

The front wheel powered vehicle is 4,292mm long, 1,780mm wide and 1,433mm tall, which means even though it comes under hatchback, the vehicle is as big as some of the sedans in Indian market.

Mileage:

Mercedes Benz A Class don’t let down average Indian whose primary concern is mileage. According to Mercedes-Benz India managing director and chief executive Eberhard Kern, “the A-Class is the most fuel efficient luxury car offering 1000 kms in a full tank of diesel,” and interestingly, he is true. The diesel variant comes with the mileage of around 20 Kmpl and the petrol variant with 15 Kmpl.
