IBM net up 10 percent to $2.86 Billion in Jan-Mar qtr

New York: Tech giant IBM has reported a 10 percent rise in net income to $2.86 billion in the January-March quarter of 2011 on account of robust growth in hardware and software business.
The entity had a net income of $2.6 billion in the year-ago period, IBM said in a statement.
The company's total revenues increased to $24.6 billion in the first quarter ended March 31, 2010 from $22.85 billion in the corresponding period last year. Thus, registering a growth of 7.7 percent.
