Frieght corridors
The freight corridor project was hit when the Railways did not monitor diligently the progress of the project which one of its primary and most important job to do. Dissatisfied with the Railways supervising, the PM decided that from here on the PMO would monitor the progress of the project make timely intervention for the completion of the project by March 2017, stressing that it would prove to be the backbone of the country's economic transport facility. The two corridors will cover a length of 3300 km. The Western Corridor from Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust near Mumbai measuring 1499 km will connect Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. A major portion of the corridor will be financed through Japanese assistance.
