Initiatives Taken up by World Economic Forum – WEF engages in numerous social causes, which aid the less privileged people of the world. Kofi Annan launched the Global Health Initiative in the 2002 Annual Meeting. This meet aimed at addressing issues like – malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/ AIDS and health systems. The Annual Meeting of 2003 saw the advent of Global Education Initiative (GEI), aimed at e-learning in countries like India, Egypt and Jordan. The GEI model is now being used in Rwanda to educated children. The 2005 G8 Summit saw the initiation of Gleneagles Dialogue on Climate Change, to reduce green-house gas emissions. The Water Initiative was a collaboration between various companies, like - UNDP India, USAID India, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Alcan Inc., Government of Rajasthan, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and NEPAD Business Foundation. Water Initiative aimed at water management in India and South Africa. The Annual Meeting in 2004 saw the Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI) being launched, which was aimed at removing corruption from the following industries – mining, energy and metals and engineering and construction.
