BHEL bags Rs 180 M order for Delhi substation
NEW DELHI: The contract given by Delhi Transco Ltd. (DTL) for setting up of the 220 kV substation at Siri Fort "will substantially improve power supply in South Delhi and around 200 MW of additional power will be made available to this area. The project will be commissioned in a tight schedule of 18 months," BHEL said in a statement Wednesday.
Delhi Transco Ltd is the sole agency responsible for transmitting power from the northern grid to the capital and within the national capital territory. The project is expected to beef up the existing poor transmission infrastructure.
India's heavy engineering major BHEL's work under the contract will include manufacture and supply of 100 MVA and 20 MVA transformers, switchgear, control and relay panels, insulators and instrument transformers.
BHEL has earlier commissioned two state-of-the-art, indigenously developed 33 kV gas insulated substations in Delhi.
Also, to ease the mounting voltage problem in the power strapped city, BHEL has successfully installed and commissioned capacitor banks at various sites. Presently, BHEL is executing contracts for setting up 66 kV and 33 kV grid substations at 12 different sites in Delhi.
