9. War in North West Pakistan:
The War in North-West Pakistan refers to the armed conflict between the Pakistani Army and Islamist militants made up by local tribesmen, the Taliban and foreign extremists. It began in 2004 when tensions rooted in the Pakistani Army's search for al-Qaeda members in Pakistan's mountainous Waziristan area (in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas) escalated into armed resistance by local tribesmen. Within a span of over eight years, the conflict has led to almost 50,000 deaths.
10. South Thailand insurgency:
The South Thailand Insurgency is an ethnic separatist insurgency that is taking place in Southern Thailand, predominantly in the Malay Pattani region. In Thailand, this conflict is known as Unrest in southern Thailand. Although low level pro-autonomy violence has occurred for decades, the campaign started in 2004, affecting over into other provinces. This conflict hasn’t shown any signs of giving up so far.
