Apple Confesses Its Top 7 Secrets

6. iPhone ‘Crazy’ Prototypes
What Is It Related To: iPhone prototypes
Who Revealed It: Apple designer

During the initial days when iPhone was still on the table, Apple was considering a curved-glass design for the phone but it was ultimately shelved because of its high costs. Doug Satzger who was earlier working as a designer for Apple said that the technology involved in shaping the glass was very expensive at that point of time and thus this design for the ambitious iPhone was shelved. He also said that some other design features of that prototype were not to the liking of the authorities. Another design was a miniature form of the iPod and sported an aluminum look that was also shelved for having too many added features that would prove as hindrances in the smooth working of the phone. Some other designs that came in the earlier prototypes ranged from being identical to bizarre and a number of such models were rejected until they decided on the model we are now familiar with.
