Amazon's Own Market Place Is Now Open In India

Since India does not allow foreign direct investment (FDI) in direct online retail, having its own online market place is the easiest way for companies such as Amazon to get access to a fast-growing market which is yet in its nascent stages.

Amazon.in currently features over 7 million print books across 200 plus categories including fiction, management, children’s books and academic publications. The Movies & TV shows store features a collection of over 12,000 titles in English and Hindi across DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and Video CD formats, as reported by First Post.

The company is offering free home delivery for a limited time and cash on delivery, after which you will be charged 49 per package for delivery and goods worth 499 and up will be delivered for free. It is to compete with Indian online merchants like Flipkart, eBay, HomeShop18, Snapdeal and host of others.

Amazon looks like mentioning Junglee.com and Amazon.in separately, using the former as an aggregator and later to push FBA stocking options on Amazon.in.
